Welcome to the Newington, CT Town Clerk's Vital Statistics online ordering system. Requests will be processed between Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

In Newington, the Town Clerk and Assistant Town Clerk's are also the Registrar and Assistant Registrar's of Vital Statistics.  The principal statutory provisions relating to these duties are found in Sections 7-36 through 7-76 and 19a-42 of the Connecticut General Statutes.

Only a Registrar of Vital Statistics or the Commissioner of Public Health may issue certified copies of birth, marriage, death or fetal death certificates. 

Notarized copies of vital records have no legal status (CGS 7-62a).

Vital records prior to 1871 may be requested from the Town of Wethersfield, CT.

The Town Clerk's Office processes orders within 2 business days, excluding weekends and holidays, once all information is available. 

REQUESTING A BIRTH, DEATH, OR MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE

Birth Certificates 

• The Vitals office can issue certified copies of Births which took place in, or was the Mother's town of residence at the time of the Birth.  For all Births occurring after 2003, you may request them from any Town within the State of Connecticut.

Death Certificates 

• The Vitals office only issues certified copies of deaths for individuals that have passed away in or were residents of Newington, CT at the time of their death.

Marriage Certificates 

• The Vitals office only issues certified copies of marriages that occurred in Newington, CT or if either spouse was a resident when the marriage took place.
